Getting your own Wikipedia page established as a living artist is very difficult. There are stringent requirements for sourcing everything. This can be a challenge when most of Miriam’s art career was pre-Internet. While we compiled a list of sources to submit for Miriam’s Wikipedia page, we created our own Wiki-style page for you to read here.
Fortunately, before social media like Facebook and Instagram, local newspapers served as a record for what the art community and artists were doing. Birmingham had a fairly vibrant art community through the decades, as well as a good relationship with the papers. We stumbled upon Newspapers.com which digitizes old newspapers, and found many citations for Miriam’s shows and exhibits in Birmingham and Alabama. We will be updating her personal Wiki page with those citations and original documents as we make them available.
